Super flat

October 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Martin blowing up a balloon, resulting in a time lapse mandala. -inspired by something out of a Bollywood movie I guess.. I tried initially to make it look like he blew up a balloon and all the air and pressure went back into his head, forcing his eyes to pop out.. like balloons. However it ended up looking horribly morbid. ..so I tried making it into poppies, springing out of his head and flourishing as the air went in.. (still nowhere near anything feelgoodish.) So, in a desperate attempt to make something not freaky-scary; I ended up with this no-meaning, strange thing. More super flat than Murakamis Mr.Dob, or flowers for that sake, semi-erotic with the red latex as you see through the balloon and into his mouth.

…ok, have to re phrase; strike Bollywood. This is probably Tokyo. In addition, and in retrospect (gosh, I hate that adult word) this is a bit to the left of what NRK asked for, flat and meaningless so no go on the story part, but weird yes.

Probably should have called it something like breathe in breathe out.

Fotunately, this is not the only project we’re turning in tomorrow.. in seven hours)

Having become a total addict of second brain, I find my self neglecting this blog. Trying to make it up without spending time on it is a tiny bit challenging so this will be a slow and cautious attempt on getting back.

My challenge regarding the Urørt project has not been to come up with vision, concepts to improve the existing service nor help the people using it. The hard part has proven to be to tie it all together: Connecting marketing tools such as guerilla marketing to the redesign and new functions of the site, increasing the chances to actually get discovered, both by bookies, download junkies and other musicians.

One of the concepts is a concert calender for the bands on Urørt, as it is hard to keep track of the indie pop / rock scene in this country.. even for specially interested people. One of the tools for reading events by type of music, quick and easy, is color coding. (pop=pink, rock=red, electronica=green acid=yellow etc.)

The system is based upon warm, cold, energetic, sounds of “typical” music for a given genre. (A huge thanks to my friends who I’ve hassled in regards of this bit of the project.)

Some examples of this where it actually works (proof that its not totally lame) here:
