*WORK IN PROGRESS*

The emergence of convenience related applications and rich user interfaces have reached the mobile market and the possibilities of hand held media readers seems endless. This has been brought forward mostly by the consumer wants for always newer better tools for survival and status, but is now shaping it in new directions as new technology is enabling evolution within the traditional system of transactions. The role of the consumer has already changed as our spending of assets has increased alongside the convenience and ease of use of payment systems. To most people this has been an enjoyment, for some it has created minor difficulties of keeping track of their own cash flow, and for others again, generated great financial problems.

We are provided with an opportunity to design a phone service for more “manageable” consumption: A chance to design an information resource that have the purpose of modifying individual behavior to increase the quality users lives. By translating to consuming experiences the findings in social psychology about what is effective in motivating individuals to change their behavior we aim to create a subtle and intuitive way of managing personal transactions.

(a bit to big words on the last part. will be rewritten.)

Language and tone of voice.

Identity is a natural part of the complex communication-processes between users and products and services.  -Everything we do is a message to the users of our service. We wanted to connect and really talk to the users by making the language that appears, both graphicly and gramaticly, in a tone of voice that feels like a direct language; a dialog rather than a computer monolog, to exemplify an inclusive self-aware spirit.

The ideas of tone of voice have guided us in the choices we faced in the fundamental conceptualization in every step of the project and has became a large part of the service identity.

(..which is so neatly expressed by this message above.)

“A graphic experiment with the RFID bubble”

Trying to combine the uniqueness of personal payment patterns, the uniqueness of rapid prototyping and the idea of the RFID bubble. The main direction of the feedback so far has moved towards the uniqueness of snowflakes, (blue) and african clothing (orange/brown).

Personally, I’m more fore the unique snowflake feel than the african dress pattern.

Some times you just find stuff that excites you, without really understanding why it is so mind-boggling entertaining. Fore instance cross-embroidering like mad, against a guy called Diego, to save the brazilian rainforest.

The concept of the game is basically to cross-stitch your way around a picture of a tree and by this explore and discover some animals that are “still-alive.” While stitching you are giving life to the tree and consecuesly the whole of nature. The goal of the site is supposedly to enhance awareness around Brazils commitment and engagement into responsible and sustainable harvesting, though this has little to do with why I’m so fond of the game. -I just had to beat Diego. I never even liked cross-embroidering before this. The sheer beauty and unexpected theme definitely don’t damage the the impressions of this political statement.

This multiplayer flash-game can be found here.

a physical link between a payment service and its users.

With starting point in wireframes, feature specs, personas and scenarios, we’re now at a point in our interaction design/UX project, where we expand beyond  just designing usable, useful products and services for the web and the mobile phone.

We have goals concerning transparent, intuitive and simple ways to interact, shop and research your own life in terms of your everyday cash flow and use of payment.

We have an aim is to create a physical link between the service and the user.
We want you to explore challenges of modeling, and fresh ways to think and design for customer relations, including ideas on
  1. Mobile Convenience
  2. Interaction between people
  3. Value
  4. Trust
  5. Time
  6. Uniqueness and identity
the object act as a token of appreciation from the service to the user, giving an indication of you as a user/consumer/shopper  and over time being affected by how you use your assets (big spender small spender)
Function: symbolize that you’re a part of the service, as for the status this might bring and

Wonderbar style of graphic elements, (in this case on stamps) by Gavin Potenza.

I find these to be superbly delightful, and inspirational as to how displaying the rfid – bubble / aura / space / flower? / pocket of air.. (I could go on for to long.) By now I’m building a graphic language that draws on elements from everything from children’s drawings to illustrations by Charlie Harper, (and now also Gavin) to create an “un-technological” and familiar feel to the future payment system. (Still creating character, just not by the means of small design toys.)
